"Starting your own business is an endurance event"
You may have heard the term ‘Adventrepreneurs’ mentioned in, well, all of our content. When you become a part of our community you’ll meet a lot of them. They are the lifeblood of what we do and what make our events so much fun to attend. We could spend hours, days, or however long you’ve got discussing the benefits of the lifestyle behind it, but we thought you might like to hear from the Adventrepreneurs themselves. These are the people who are leading the charge towards a new work-life balance. The change-makers and disruptors who choose to pair their ambitions with their love of adventure.
Ben Constanduros, Director of CMMC tells us that if you structure your day correctly you can do you work and then get out into the mountains and be able to truly clear your mind. He adds that this is essential for creatives; you can take inspiration from your surroundings, allow your mind to think and then return to your work feeling refreshed.
This is at the core of what we do. We give you the tools, support and community to be able to work in places that give you a real sense of freedom. In the city you are very limited if you need to escape your work – even just for a minute or two. When you look up from your computer, your desk, your office, you see more computers, desks and offices – it’s easy for your mind to get compressed. We offer a chance to look up from your work and see endless adventure on your doorstep. Turn a two-minute break into a walk to a waterfall if you want to.
Andrew Htun, Co-Founder & Director of VEVA Social makes the point of getting too tied down by your work in the city that you forget to enjoy life as well. We believe this is down to accessibility. You may be a road cyclist, have a gym membership or go for regular runs after work but nothing can beat the sheer sense of freedom and choice of adventure in the mountains. Not only can you finish work and be paragliding off a cliff within the hour, but you are encouraged to do so by the people around you. The mountains are full of adventure fanatics who’s energy is infectious. Without noticing it you will do more adrenaline pumping activities in one week than ever before because it will feel natural. No structure, no classes, just pure spontaneous adventure.
Sophie Radcliffe (Challenge Sophie) is an endurance athlete, adventurer and blogger. Her story has inspired thousands as she sweeps the globe encouraging us to live the one life we have to the absolute fullest. Here she speaks about the parallels between adventure sport and entrepreneurship and brilliantly says that starting a business is an endurance event. You have to be a certain type of person to be able to go out into the world and build something for yourself – to go up against challenges and overcome them. She also tells us that of the many entrepreneurs she has met over the years, a lot of them are driven by adventure in their personal lives.
